Start Date: Monday, September 16th
Starting promptly at 7:45 p.m., Classes are all 75 minutes long. Each session will start with a basic warmup, a recap of prior material and then an introduction to new choreography. There will be plenty of time for repetition!

Meet your director
Del Dominguez
Del Dominguez, founder and director of Mayambo Dance Company/Studio, has over 20 years of experience in Salsa dancing, performing, and choreographing. As a founding member of Chicago’s first Salsa on2 company, Descarga Caribe, he traveled globally, performing alongside mentor Sekou McMiller.
In addition to Salsa, Del has competed professionally in Ballroom dancing, with over six years of experience in teaching and coaching. He is a four-time Salsa champion and co-founded Mixed Motion Art Dance Company, which won first place in the small teams division at the Ultimate Latin Dance Challenge.
Del also co-directed a theatrical piece for Giordano Dance Company of Chicago, receiving rave reviews. Currently, he is focused on growing the Mayambo dance family and elevating the Chicago Salsa community.

How will this work??

Can I join if I'm a beginner?
We’d recommend that you have at least 4-6 months of Salsa training in order to have a positive experience participating in this performance class. Aspiring dancers should feel comfortable dancing Salsa on2 and have some general awareness of the fundamentals of dance Salsa.
What are the commitments and details if I get accepted?
The class will meet on Mondays from 7:45 – 9:00 p.m. Please make sure you’re able to commit to that scheudle before your sign up!
What should I wear for class?
Make sure to bring both shoes and clothes you feel comfortable in when you dance. We’d also recommend bringing water as we plan to work you out! If you’re someone who sweats, no worries, we ask that you bring an extra shirt as well. Other than that, just bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
How long is the Class?
The goal is to perform at the Mayambo Gala on December 21st and at the Chicago Internation Salsa Congress in February 2025 (Date TBD).
