Monday, December 6th 7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Here’s what to expect at the Mayambo Ladies* tryout:
*Audition open to all who are interested
AUDITION (7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.)
During this time, Daniela will teach a short combo to check the aptitude, ability and performance quality aspiring female dancers. Be ready to shine to the best of your ability in order to make the cut because you’ll find out right away!
*Come 10 minutes early to check in and stretch*
REHEARSAL (8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.)
You’ll find out right away if you made the cut. Now be ready to dance! Be ready to go as Daniela warms you up, stretches you out and gets you started with the training and material you’ll learn for the team choreography.*
* With goal to possibly do CISC if the team is ready. The team will for certain do CSBF 2022.
Meet Your New World Champion Instructor
Daniela Leon Ossa
Daniela Leon Ossa was born in Medellin, Columbia and has been dancing since she was 13 years.
Her first love in dance was Tango but then she found Salsa and began to train seriously in 2007. After 5 years of rigorous training, Daniela made her professional debut in 2012 by competing and winning at her first competitive event. Since then, she has gone on to win an astounding 17 more championships in her competitive career.
While in Columbia, she co-founded the Blood Dance Company who was renown for their exciting shows and for developing consistently great dancers.
She has recently arrived in Chicago and is excited to share her vast experience and knowledge to help push the Salsa community forward!
With her work ethic and attention for the finest of details, Daniela is a force in Salsa and someone who can certainly help you level up your Salsa dancing skills.
Important Details About The Team
What Safety Measure Are In Place During Class?
We’re constantly following the CDC guidelines for the appropriate measures to take during class. As of December, 2021, mask wearing is required for indoor event. We do this to ensure everyone’s safety. Ample amounts of hand sanitizer are also available for our clients to use freely. Thank you for your understanding.
What Are The Practice Times?
The first practice will be on Monday, December 6th if you make the team. Afterwards, rehearsals will be held on SUNDAYS from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the Mayambo Dance Studio.
What Skill Level Should I Have?
The choreography and training will be done in the Salsa on2 style. Daniela will gauge the overall quality of the dancers and adjust the difficulty accordingly. That said, it’s recommended that dancers have at least 1 year of experience in the on2 style as well as have a familiarity with Salsa footwork/shines.
What Is The Financial Commitment?
The price of the team is $250 which will take you all the way to the Chicago Congress in late February. There is a split pay option available for those who would prefer to pay that way.
What Should I Wear or The Audition?
Wear comfortable workout attire and comfortable dance shoes. Heel are recommended but not required.
